I had a cute July 4th! 💥 It was beautiful in NYC for two whole days.

That morning, I decided to KonMari my bookshelves and ended up with two heavy bags of books to give away. I distributed them to four different Little Free Libraries around my neighborhood, and it was a fun scavenger hunt finding them all!

Then I had to stop at Ralph’s for a nostalgic sweet treat. Ralph’s is an NYC institution (almost 100 years old!) and I remember it being a big deal in Long Island. There was one near Hofstra that I got to enjoy a few times before I graduated. So happy that a new one just opened up in the heart of Astoria.

After that, I aimlessly biked around and happened upon a July 4th drag show off Broadway! It was so wholesome and I loved all of the cute kids dancing with their signs.

Was on such a happy high with the beautiful weather and seeing everyone enjoying it that I decided to watch the Macy’s fireworks display from the best secret vantage point… the Astoria-Ditmars subway platform. There were like six other people craning their necks here doing the same thing as me, haha. It’s the perfect way to see them if, like me, you don’t like being trapped in the middle of the loud, hot, crowded, action.

And that was it! I seriously have always loved the 4th of July and it felt like this was a really chill, easygoing day, which is just what I wanted.
