Went to the mall on black friday. CJ reintroduced me to this forgotten joy.

Today, my parents and I drove to Jones Beach. I have been there before, but I completely forgot how peaceful it is there. Nothing but sand, geriatric joggers, and the Atlantic Ocean all around. The homes there are very quaint as well. They remind me of beach houses I’ve seen at Misquamicut.

And we also found a light house. I’m not entirely sure where we found it, because we did get a little bit lost.

Two weeks ago, I walked across the Brooklyn Bridge.

It was a 60-degree day in November. It was so beautiful.

Hi! It’s been a while.

Stuff that’s been going on:

  • I’ve dyed my hair a second time. After 20 years of one color, I finally realize now is the last time in my life that I’ll be able to get away with crazy dyed hair (not that this is crazy) so I’m making up for lost time. I bought purple hair dye and will be trying that out come February, I think.
  • In the past month I’ve become a pilates junkie. I had no motivation to drag myself to the gym, EVER, so I felt really sluggish and gross. But pilates is a great workout that you can do from your dorm (with the help of an instructor via iTunes). I even bought myself a mat so you KNOW I’m serious.
  • I want to be able to touch my toes by the end of the year. I don’t know if pilates will help me do that, because my hamstrings are the tightest in the world, but I really hope so.
  • I’ve also been doing yoga in the morning and evening as a warm up and cool down for the day.
  • Also: EFT. Gala Darling is a huge advocate of Emotional Freedom Technique, and so I tried it out of curiosity at the end of a long, stressful day, and it felt quite lovely, actually! No crying or groundbreaking realizations about my life ensued (or vomiting), but it was very relaxing and I do it quite often now. She explains what it is and how to do it in this video.
  • Also: After reading Fast Food Nation I’ve decided I’m not eating anything from a fast food place again. I am also now extremely wary of ground beef.
  • Also: I found out via a Myers-Briggs Personality Test that my personality type is INFJ. Introverted-Intuitive-Feeling-Judging. Supposedly, I am a hermit but I am WILDLY creative and friendly and will probably have a rad job someday as a food journalist, music composer or bookstore owner.
  • Do I sound like I’m totally Zenned out right now? I am, I really am.
  • I also walked across the Brooklyn Bridge with my mom this weekend! And my boyfriend visited me! It was wonderful!
  • Did I mention I’ll be walking in a fashion show this saturday? I AM.

Well I didn’t think anything was really going on in my life, but that is not the case! Wow. Until next time.

I have to profess my love right now for Ricky’s NYC.

It’s a beauty store that carries obscure salon and vegan brands. They have every color of the rainbow in eyeshadows, nail polish, and hair dye. They also have wigs, sunglasses, rainboots, hosiery, and fun packets of tissues. There’s a homeopathic section in the back with all natural massage oils, soaps, shampoos. There’s a cubby also back there, filled with different incense sticks.

Oh my god, I love it so much. I only thought these stores only existed in New York City, but there’s one a half an hour away from my campus. What a beautiful place.

It’s not a cheap place, but all of the brands stocked are very high quality, more than likely all-natural or vegan, and the prices are significantly less than what you’d find at Sephora.

It was a really good time. I ended up getting a bunch of things: Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soap (almond flavor), 2 bottles of Special Effects Hair Dye (in Devilish Red and Wildflower Purple), 10 sticks of incense (couldn’t tell you the flavors, but they are teasing me right now because I can’t light them in my dorm), and rainbow knee-high toe socks (because I’ll never be taken seriously at the roller disco without them). So that’s 15 items, and I spent less than $40.

I’m a big fan, and you should be too.

I pass this tree on the way to class everyday and I just think it is the coolest. I love the spectrum of color starting at the bottom, where the leaves are all green, then turning to yellow, then red, then finally nothing at the top.

It’s funny, everything that was bad about yesterday completely fixed itself today. Nothing like a little apple cider, yoga, and faith in the Hofstra journalism department. Onto the links!

I’m off to UCONN to celebrate Halloween with my boyfriend and his friends! I’ll be back with outfits next week, promise!

This weekend was very relaxing for a change. I went to the gym, ate cheeseburgers and cupcakes, saw the show “Cabaret” on campus, did homework, lounged around in the sunshine, and chatted with friends about what I can personally do to make the world a better place for others.

Oh, and I dyed my hair.

You can’t tell, but I dyed it dark, dark red on Saturday afternoon. Scariest thing I’ve ever done. Now I’m ready to dye it again and again until I achieve the perfect shade of reddish auburn. Hair follicles, be prepared to be tortured beyond belief with chemicals.

Hmmmmm, oh and I watched another movie that I recommend.

Beautiful movie. Has everything that I like. Fantasy, whimsy, action, violence, and to top it off it takes place in the 1920’s. Wowzers. Although it was really weird seeing Lee Pace in his role. I’m used to him being all slouchy and eyebrowy and cute on “Pushing Daisies” and in this movie, he plays a suicidal drug addict.

That is all! I’m off to watch “Despicable Me” for free on campus, because my movie-watching is never done. Have a wonderful night.
