OH WHY NOT.

Put your MP3 player on shuffle, and write down the first line of the first twenty songs. Post the poem that results. The first line of the twenty-first is the title.

easy now, no need fi go down

the tide is high but i’m holding on

what a drag it is getting old

i’m feeling rough i’m feeling raw

come save me from walking off a window sill

keep the noise down

miss jones taught me english

mama, daddy, baby sis

anthony works in a grocery store

people are strange

i smoke two joints in the morning

reluctantly crouched at the starting line

she comes in colors everywhere

i took your picture

well just because she feeds me well

hello there

london quiet down i need to make a sound

alright, alright let’s do it again

kings from queens from queens come kings

i saw a warewolf with a chinese menu in his hand

a-well everybody’s heard about the bird

i absolutely love it when choirs cover contemporary, completely unexpected songs.

scala & kolacny brothers- under the bridge

oh my god.

i’m watching mtv made, and it’s showing the episode that was filmed at my high school.

i can’t look away, dude.

';

can’t wait to get back to college. the complete opposite spectrum of my life.

also: i had a dream last night that i met justin timberlake. he was eight feet tall.

the fratellis- flathead

my top 25 on itunes.

i just learned how to “print screen” on a mac and decided to show off my skills. hee hee!

so i have an extra ticket to see avenue q on the 16th. i am considering possible worthy candidates in my mind as we speak.

in related news i also am dead set on going to see reel big fish at toad’s place on the 23rd. and i definitely know which people i’m going to ask.

siiiiiiiiiiiigh. i wish someone would invite ME to see a show. UGH, christ, friends.

whatever. fuck em.

sorry. i’m not in a good mood because i’ve eaten out for the past 3 days and i feel incredibly fat. detox begins tomorrow.

so one of my resolutions (if that’s what you want to call it) is to catch up on all the good movies that people have been telling me i should watch. Because i am painfully behind on my movies. like, really behind. (i still haven’t seen titanic) but i am getting there. and with help from the killingworth and henry carter hull libraries, I will achieve my goal of spending countless hours staring at my computer screen. so, here are the movies i have watched in their entirety (in the order in which i’ve seen them) so far this vacation:

1. the spirit

2. capote

3. blow

4. brokeback mountain

5. the curious case of benjamin button

6. the graduate

7. fight club

8. the virgin suicides

9. 28 days later

10. sin city

11. the royal tenenbaums

12. the godfather

i was not aware that the godfather is a 3-hour-long movie. i was not prepared for that.

and i’m pretty sure that i’ve watched at least two other movies, but i couldn’t remember for the life of me what they are. damn.

in other news, i’m listening to modest mouse’s good news for people who love bad news album and i really like it.

and two more godfather-related fun facts for you: 1. francis ford coppola’s daughter, sofia appeared in the movie as the little baby boy in the baptism scene. 2. francis ford coppola graduated from hofstra university.

i had so many weird dreams last night. i’m pretty sure i had one where i was chased by zombies, of course. (i watched 28 days later last night) and then i had one about orientation. except it wasn’t freshman orientation like i had remembered, it was myself and all of my friends from back in high school in a room, rehearsing a skit. none of them were talking to me, and i remember that my skit was not as good as theirs. and for lunch they served us starburst the size of your fist. (hence, above.)

…ok, maybe that dream sounds really stupid but i just woke up from it like WHOA. so never mind i guess.

and the dream finished with me sitting down to iChat and someone telling me that i had got a part in a movie. except i was unable to type back a response so they were just like, “hello? well, if you’re not going to accept it i’m just going to give it to someone else.”

and then i woke up.

but what is most amazing is that i woke up twice (7:45 and 9am) and went back into a deep sleep until 11am!!!

this is an accomplishment. one of my new year’s goals is to not get out of bed until at least noon, if i am able to.

OH and my new years was interesting but later fun. at least it ended well for me :]

';

ahhh…so. it is the last day of 2008.

i love new year’s eve so much. every year, it’s a giant scramble to find a good party to go to. i know its stupid, and that it’s made WAY too big a deal than it actually is, but i do feel some kind of a release once the clock turns midnight. your life becomes a clean slate, prepared for 365 days of potential damage.

i love starting over.

for me, 2008 was a transition year from the old to the new melanie. I’m much more confident in myself now, and a lot less naive. i’m only going to continue to grow in the new year. i still have a lot to accomplish.

so here’s to the new year. party on.

(on a completely different note: did you know that i was .03 points away from making the dean’s list? shoot myself in the face, please.)

ted leo and the pharmecists- counting down the hours

for the first time in five years….

..i have bangs! i woke up this morning with no agenda, thought i would sit around and do nothing for a while, just because sometimes sitting around and doing nothing is good for the soul.

and then i decided that i wanted a haircut.

so i did it!!!!

and i was so scared that i would do it way too short or make it horrible and crooked in some way, but it is perfect. damn, i am skilled at cutting my own hair.

and this, at the moment, is the highlight of my day.

i have nothing interesting to say

this upcoming week should be exciting. tomorrow is my friend’s birthday party. we’re expecting lots and lots of people to show up so i’m very excited. until last night, i haven’t really gotten my drink on in a while. it’s a crazy colors-themed party so i’m going to plan my outfit today. and then wednesday, of course, is new year’s eve. my boyfriend and i are going to be party-hopping and hanging out with certain friends we haven’t seen in a while, which should also be fun and exciting. i also have to plan an outfit for that.

so last night was a really good time. my high school friends all got together and one of their houses and we all brought some kind of food and we just drank wine coolers and made a big meal together. and two of my friends and i made a really interesting dance video to “single ladies”.

today is a boring, cloudy day. i kind of just want to sit in bed and play yoshi’s story or read a book or something.

i can’t resist. he gave me donkey kong and cashews for christmas.

ah, LOVE!
